; What kind of interaction is a blog/facebook? What space are they both part of? What is the experience of blogging/using facebook?
i think that a blog or facebook can be considered a digital form of real interaction, or rather a way to interact with people without having to actually do so. on facebook you can even 'poke' people - physically impossible, but interactive none the less. blogs are interesting because they're a way to share your thoughts and get feedback in a different way than a face-to-face interaction, and they also provide a wider timeframe for that interaction - your blog could plausibly exist forever, and people could respond to it and provide feedback for as long as it exists. a blog also allows you to 'converse' with a much wider range of people than you'd normally be able to interact with, as does facebook. blogs and facebook also make it much easier to keep in contact with people, especially if you're not so good at it - if it weren't for facebook/twitter/blogs, i would have lost contact with many people (people who i know in 'real life' and people i know 'online'). i also enjoy reading other people blogs, and learning things that i probably would not have learned without that venue of information. blogs definitely open up a huge arena for discussion on all topics. facebook could be used in the same way, but is really more for wasting time while checking up on people you already know without really learning anything about them. that doesn't mean i don't love facebook, it just means i use it for different things than blogs/bloggers/blogging.
